Breast Cancer Support- Starting the Conversation

When you are diagnosed with breast cancer, you might feel alone, like you are the only one facing this struggle. Sometimes telling your story to someone else can help you, and also help the other person.

The “Splash of Color” meeting is Thursday, February 9 from 5-7 pm. It will be held at Waterloo Public Library, 415 Commercial Street in Waterloo.  This FREE event is open to all women of color living with breast cancer.  Refreshments are provided by Panera Bakery-Café. Activities are planned from 5 to 7 p.m., but participants can come and go as their schedules allows. Child care is available, but must be pre-arranged.

Two speakers are planned for the evening. Shae Robinson, BSN will facilitate, “Starting the Conversation.” This will be an open discussion. We will encourage participants to share their story in hopes of making our sisters feel comfortable, connected, and a “Champion” for the cause.

Laura Wynohrad, from the Iowa Cancer Consortium will also speak about the Iowa Community-Based Cancer Prevention Project. The Iowa Cancer Consortium will be providing $25 gift cards to attending breast cancer survivors and their support persons.
